Das sind die Schüler von Frau Ward, die sich mit uns am 22.12.00 zum ersten Chat trafen.Wir waren sehr aufgeregt und hatten jede Menge Spaß, obwohl es nicht so einfach war, in einer anderen Sprache zu kommunizieren.
Nachdem Frau Frank am Abend noch eine mail an Mrs. Ward geschickt hatte, bekamen wir noch vor den Weihnachtsferien Antwort.

WOW! Thanks f or the great e-mail! My students loved our chat session as
much as yours did! I'm glad that the girls liked chatting with Manuel. It
gives us something to have fun with and tease him about! At least, he looks
forward to attending school now! He is much like Matthias, Manuel quit
school last year and then came back this year.

I am glad to hear that Robert would like to chat more about American cars.
That is a good topic for our boys to talk about as cars, sports, music, and
hunting are their main interests. So glad to hear that your girls had fun
chatting. It will be great to see their pictures as now we will be able to
match their faces to their names.
My students absolutely loved our chat session. Thank you so much for all of
your work getting everyone together at your end and for staying after school
to do this project. We are so glad that your students gave up their time to
stay after school and do this project!!
We absolutely loved all of the project! Some of my students were a little
shy so they didn't add much. We had a German translation dictionary to use
from when my older boys were in Germany. We tried to use it some. It is good
for my students to try to add a little German because they have it so easy,
chatting in their native language, while your students have to think and
chat in 2 different languages. Tell your students that we thought that they
were amazing.
My students are used to chatting back and forth quickly in chat rooms. We
probably were not tolerant enough of your students as we quickly added so
many messages. Next time we will try to slow down. The students were so
excited, I think that they forgot to go slower.
I will be losing Andrea and Troy as they are going to another class. But
after the holiday break, we must try to get together again. I hope your
students don't mind staying later after school.
Later, we will talk about what your students would like to have as little
gifts from America. We will send them some little thank yous by postal mail.
As we chat, we will learn what things they like and then we can look for
something to send them.
We won't be in class on Friday as we have a Christmas party at our school
in the morning and we don't have school in the afternoon.
I will print off your email and make copies for the students to read. They
will love it!
Just wanted to tell you about deer hunting here. It is a season that starts
in the fall. The boys liike to go out on the first day of the season. But
they aren't allowed to miss school but some just leave school anyway.
